Flyers Pound Penn State 78-62 In Charity Game

The University of Dayton man’s basketball team took on the Penn State Nittany Lions in the third annual CareSource Mental Health exhibition game, at the University of Dayton Arena Sunday afternoon.
The Flyers took flight early and often as the Flyers defeated the Nittany Lions 78-62.
Keonte Jones led the Flyers with 17 points 13 in the first half Amael L’Etang and Brice Heard followed up with 10 points each.
Kayden Mingo and  Freddie Dillone each had 16 for Penn State.
Dayton jumped out to a 16-9 lead early in the first half and never looked back.
Jones got the party started when he hit a layup and the Flyers were off and running. Jacob Conner took a pass from L’Etang and turned a turnover into points when he dropped in a 3 pointer and the Flyers were up 5-0 with  17:32 left in the first half.
Dayton would pull ahead by 9 with 12:01 left in the first half when Adam Njie Jr. put in a layup and it was 20-11.
Penn State would pull within 5 just before the half when Kayden Mingo made the front end of a one and one and Dayton led 34-29 at the half.
The Flyers would then turn up the heat and pulled away by as many as 24 when Bryce Heard put in a jumper and was fouled and then adding the and 1 for a 62-38 lead with 10:23 left in the contest.
Jauin Simon would give the Flyers their biggest lead of the night when he stole the ball and went down and scored a jumper in the paint and it was 67-40.
Overall for the Flyers they were 30 of 62 for 48 percent compared to Penn State going just 24 of 61 for 39 percent.  Dayton went 17 of 33 in the second half for 51% and Penn State was just 12 of 34 for 35%.
Jones talked about his first game in Dayton “it was good, I thought it would be a little more people, I know it was just an exhibition game but I can’t wait til the first real game see when I heard the floor shakes when they jump.”
Dayton will have 1 more exhibition game on Monday October 27th vs Bowling Green at 7:00 pm
